Autumn marks the transfer of seasons from the summer leading into the winter. When the nights become noticably longer than the days. Here in Scotland, the land transforms with beautiful autumn shades of drying leaves with cold temperatures and a hope for the winter sun. This is where capturing nature’s beauty at it’s best transformation is a photographer’s delight.
Today’s Wild Navigator Wild Pictures of the Day is by Graeme Mackenzie and theme of his 10 best Autumn collection - the ”10 Shades of a Scottish Autumn”. Graeme by profession is a medical doctor but in his spare time takes out a balance to benefit from and makes use of the ”Healing Power of Nature”. A true getaway from his busy schedule in assisting with patients and capturing nature’s beauty.
Graeme is born and bread Scottish who describes Scotland as a country rich in woodlands, trees and forests that expand thousands of acres throughout its borders. This plethora of plant life provides safe havens for many of the country’s wildlife both great and small. As he lives in Scotland, he is able to explore this expanse which is a true privilege; allowing him to witness Scotland in all its various guises: summer, winter, autumn and spring.
His personal favourite is the season of autumn. A time when tranquillity fills the cool crisp air, chilling the core of your lungs with each breath; when silence descends upon the countryside like falling leaves carpeting the Earth. Having a keen interest in photography for many years, Graeme has strived to capture this beauty; to seal away forever the crimson, gold and amber hues of Scotland’s glowing landscape before it is lost for another year.
This autumn collection has been captured in a variety of locations across Scotland including the Highlands, Aberdeenshire and the Kingdom of Fife.
At Wild Navigator, we welcome Graeme Mackenzie to showcase his pictures on our Wild Pictures of the Day Series.
