Let wilderness talk while we watch

Many of us have been actively involved in travelling to wildlife regions - be it in Asia, Africa South America or places that just host the last remaining wild species to view. As a traveller, we like to give as much possible to that very destination, and in this situation by contributing (indirectly or directly) to species that we view, to the host community that we visit.

Viewing wildlife is never guaranteed - as our subject (wildlife species) are not monuments / buildings which are going to be stationary for us to view. We as travellers, need to study the ecology, the habitats that we visit and listen to other species that have links to the food chain of the very species that we want to view. It is like a game that small children play - joining blocks where we need to balancing the right block to the right slot.

‘Silence’ on the other hand is the best wilderness medicine for viewing. We as human’s love to talk, and some do talk loudly. These options are not helpful while visiting protected areas; they do not help in hearing nature’s vast alarm calls. This all boils down to education and knowledge. As a child I remember sitting most of my time in wilderness spots for hours and hours hearing nature’s voices - analysing them to see how the picture unfolds infront of me. Sometimes I just used to let silence take me to view the best movie that life can give - letting the jungles talk and act naturally as I watched in silence.  I rate these experiences as one of the best wildlife watching times of my life.

So next time, when you visit a protected area, simply let wilderness talk while you watch everything unfold around you.
